Tulipa Cranberry Ice Cream - 6 Bulbs

Description

Tulipa 'Cranberry Ice Cream' is a distinctive double tulip featuring rounded flowers that mimic the appearance of fruit sorbet scoops. The inner petals showcase a rich cranberry red hue, encircled by pink outer petals with subtle green shades at their bases, resulting in a layered and textured look. It blooms in mid to late spring and is ideal for borders, prominent containers, or as part of cut flower arrangements.

For optimal growth, plant in full sunlight and in well-drained soil. Select a sheltered spot to shield the heavy flowers from strong winds. Plant the bulbs in the autumn at a depth of 10–15cm and spaced 10cm apart. After the flowers have faded, deadhead them and let the foliage wither naturally. If the soil is heavy or susceptible to waterlogging, lift and store the bulbs during summer. This variety stands out by adding stylishcolour and shape to any spring display.

Supplied as a pack of 6 bulbs.

  • Timing: September to December, with October/November being optimal.
  • Conditions: Choose a sunny, sheltered spot to protect the heavy, double-layered blooms.
  • Soil: Ensure the soil is well-drained to avoid waterlogging.
  • Depth & Spacing: Plant bulbs 10 to 15cm (4 to 6in) deep and 10cm (4in) apart.
  • Container Planting: Ideal for pots; plant in, allowing 7 to 9 bulbs per 30cm pot, ensuring good drainage.
