At Dandy’s, we’re passionate about helping communities thrive - not just through our products, but through the projects they make possible. That’s why we’re proud to support Granby Toxteth Development Trust (GTDT) by providing discounted products to their community garden project “Growing Forward.”

About GTDT
Based in Toxteth, Liverpool, Granby Toxteth Development Trust (GTDT) is a long-established community anchor organisation that works at the heart of the community. Their mission is to provide learning, wellbeing, and development opportunities that empower residents and strengthen neighbourhood resilience.
As a sub-contractor for the Adult Learning Service, GTDT delivers a wide range of accessible courses that help adults gain new skills, grow in confidence, and move towards employment or further education.
With a dedicated horticulturist leading its environmental projects, GTDT also connects people with nature through gardening, food growing, and horticultural therapy.
The “Growing Forward” Project
Our discounted products will directly support GTDT’s Growing Forward project, which brings together local volunteers to develop community gardens in their neighbourhoods. So far, the initiative has engaged more than 120 volunteer gardeners, and the benefits are already clear:
- Improved health and wellbeing - Gardening boosts both physical health and mental wellbeing.
- Community connection - It’s a fantastic way for people to meet new friends and develop new skills.
- Sustainability - Community gardens help residents learn about environmental stewardship and food growing.
The project will go on to support up to 12 local groups with advice, expertise, and small grants to get their gardens established. All of this work is underpinned by an adult learning course that develops practical knowledge and techniques.
Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and managed by Liverpool City Council, Growing Forward is helping neighbourhoods flourish across the city.
Dandy’s Contribution
By providing discounted Composted Mulch Bark Fines and Mushroom Compost, we’re helping GTDT volunteers build fertile, healthy soil for their gardens - giving local growers the resources they need to nurture their plants and their communities.
We’re proud to play a small part in such an inspiring initiative, and we look forward to seeing how GTDT’s gardens continue to grow.
Growing Together
The work of GTDT shows how gardening can bring people closer to nature, to each other, and to new opportunities. With every garden created, new friendships, skills, and healthier lifestyles are also being cultivated.
