How long does delivery take?
At present the delivery lead time is 3 to 10 working days.
However, this is just a guide at the moment and we are working to get orders out ASAP.
(Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays are not classed as 'working days'.)
How do you deliver?
Here at Dandy's we deliver a couple of different ways... but we need plenty of access to start off - if you have tight access please call us before placing your order.
If you are local to our Chester depot we will deliver on one of our 6 wheel hiab crane vehicles, outside of this area we use a palletised courier.
For all the information on this please visit our Delivery Info page. Shipping Rates and Info
Can I choose my delivery date?
Please make note of your required delivery date at the cart page - we will try our very best to meet to this date and will let you know if we can't.
How big are your wagons?
Our delivery wagons are either 18 tonne tail lift (box vehicles) with our pallet couriers or 18 tonne and 26 tonne hiab crane vehicles, depending on where you are located.
Can the products be delivered into my garden?
If you are local to our Chester depot the goods will be delivered using a crane so the goods can be lifted into you garden, depending on access (no over hanging wires or trees etc).
Outside of this area we use a pallet courier and the delivery is restricted as there is no crane on the wagon - so goods are left kerbside most of the time.
What time will my order arrive?
We deliver between 7am - 6pm Monday to Friday. Within our local delivery area we will have an idea of the time of your delivery the afternoon before, or we are open from 7am if you wish to call us on the day. If you are outside of our local delivery area we use a pallet courier and we can try to get you an ETA on the day - please call us on 01244 280008 around 8am. The driver will call you when they are on their way to you.
Do I need to be home to accept the delivery?
We advise that someone is home to take delivery as in some cases the goods can only be left roadside. We understand that this isn't always possible though so please give clear instructions when placing your order as to where the goods needs to be left.
Do you deliver on the weekend?
In some cases we can deliver on a Saturday morning; the courier we use charges around £60 extra for a Saturday delivery so it is very pricey! Please call us on 01244 280008 for more information.

Our Lawn Turf rolls cover 1 m2 (1 square metre). The approximate measurements are 40cm wide x 250cm long, however this can vary so please check before placing your order.
Is your topsoil and compost weed free?
No, but this is because we don't treat any of our products with nasty weed-killer chemicals. As all of our growing products are natural and highly fertile you should expect some weeds. We advise that you purchase some anti-weed prevention membrane or mulch that will help keep weeds at bay.
Are your play area products safe for children?
Yes our Play Bark, Hardwood Play Chips and Play Sand are all tested to BS EN 1177. This is a test for impact to comply with the Critical Fall Height (to cushion a fall) - it does not cover injestion or splinters so we advise parental supervision and sock and shoes always worn on the bark products. All of our products are naturally occurring and do not contain any chemicals.
How to you sell your products - are they in bags?
Yes - we stock most of our products in bulk bags various sizes (builders bags) or smaller handy bags. We can also supply most goods tipped loose (on a large 8 wheeler); please call or email us for a quote.

Do I need to use my topsoil or compost straight away?
We advise that you should use your topsoil as soon as it is delivered. It can sit in the bag for a couple of days but if you need to leave it any longer we suggest covering it over with a plastic sheet. The small bags are made from a co-ex material and so should be fine to be stored until a later date.
My gravel has arrived dusty - is this normal?
Yes, the gravel comes straight from the quarry in an unwashed state. The rain will naturally wash away the dust or you can pop your hosepipe over it for 5 minutes.
How long until my grass seed grows?
Well, this is all depending on the weather and the type of seed you go for but typically you should expect to see germination in 7 to 10 days and a new lawn in 4 to 6 weeks.

Yes, our depot in Chester has over 100 products bagged up into smaller handy bags, ready for collection. Pop down to Sealand Road, Chester, CH1 6BS and check out our collection deals.
