How much soil or compost will I need to fill these beds?

There are lots of methods you can use to help cut down on the amount of topsoil or compost required.  The compost lasagna technique involves layering cardboard, twigs, garden green waste and branches before adding your compost or soil to the top 8 inches (growing area).

This guide is based on filling the beds solely with topsoil or compost (don't forget that Compost will continue to rot down and be used up by the plants so you will need to top up more frequently):
