Add-on Hedera Helix Ivy

Description

Hedera Helix is the scientific name for common ivy, an evergreen climbing plant native to Europe and western Asia.

It grows on surfaces like trees and walls or as ground cover, and its name refers to its coiling growth habit. It is popular as an ornamental plant, but some parts, particularly the berries, can be poisonous to humans.

  • Growth: It is a woody, evergreen vine that can reach heights of up to 20–30 meters. It uses small root-like hairs to cling to vertical surfaces.
  • Leafs: The leaves are typically dark green and glossy. Juvenile leaves are lobed, while mature leaves are oval or heart-shaped.
  • Flowers and fruit: Mature plants produce small, greenish-yellow flowers in late summer to late autumn. These are followed by berries that are an important food source for birds, though poisonous to humans.
