On Saturday December 6th, 1890, we placed the above advert in the Cheshire Observer (now Chester Chronicle).
Back then though we were using our quality topsoil to grow carrots in rather than selling it!
The following week we received a shipment of strange looking yellow fruit from our supplier at the docks in Liverpool, we later advertised the new fruit as "FOREIGN FRUIT", today we might just say "Bananas!"
