What is HomeFlame?
This premium Smokeless Fuel will replace our previously supplied Excel and NewFlame coals as we believe it's a much better brand, and has the benefit of being suitable for both open and closed appliances.

Why use a smokeless fuel?
If you live in a Smoke-Control area you can only burn smokeless fuel and kiln dried logs - this is due to the 1956 Clean Air Act, which was an attempt to make the air quality in towns and cities better after the ‘Great Smog’ of London in 1952.
A smokeless fuel has to conform to this and produce less than 5g of smoke per hour of burning. Compared to normal house coal smokeless coal produces less emissions can release up to 20% less carbon dioxide. One of the many reasons we're happy to stock it!
Is it better than Traditional House Coal?
Smokeless fuels can give up to a third more heat than normal house coal and can also burn for up to 40% longer. This means that they can burn hotter for longer, meaning you need to add fuel to your fire less often. Less re-fuelling also means that smokeless fuels can be more cost effective than your normal house coal.

Call us on 01244 280008 to join our coal round (hand tipped into your bunker/store) or pop down to our Head Office in Chester for 20kg pre pack bags. In our efforts to reduce our plastic and non recyclable waste we will be introducing hessian sacks into our packaging and hope that by winter 2019 all of our coal will be bagged in recyclable/biodegradable bags.
